Whole house replacement windows (23) to be exact. The company we bought them from, out of business, (there's a shocker).

Double pane seal broken on window (foggy) Wrote to company, sent back a Warranty Inquiry Packet. I should have known something was up because the info I sent the first time was more than adequate. This was 2 months ago.

What a bunch of dumb*****. Haven't heard from them since. They even assigned a claim number, but if you try to go to Windowwarranty@***.com, this web site doesn't exist.

I am really disgusted, it's not like these windows were cheap. Well guess what! Now it's time to go to a real window company, Pella, Anderson, etc.

Location: Louisville, Kentucky

I had a blown seal and sent in the warranty pack as my "contractor" (HKC in Cincinnati) gave me their number instead of going to bat for me. I was told "send it in, we'll look it over and get back to you in six months" (really?!).

After about a year of silence, I assumed they were as worthless as the contractor. I switched it with a like sized one in the back of the house and figured I'd call a local guy someday.

Well, in Jan '16 they shipped a re-make to a local distributor - BUT NOBODY TOLD ME! Until yesterday (Feb '17), distributor called to tell us they were sending it back at the end of the week if we didn't come get it!

Amazing.

I had a similar experience. I finally got all the information, sent it in, had a date with the only distributor in the state that replaced the windows.

On the day they were supposed to deliver my window, (this after several missed appointments) they called to say they dropped the window while loading on the truck. Haven't heard from them since.

Not a happy camper! I would not do business with them ever again!!

I also called and received the warranty packet. They want info like the serial number, which in my case is in the top of the sliding door.

The door needs to be removed to retrieve. I can't remove the door so I tried the non existing web site and calling what a joke.

30 minute wait, at least.

Never Again!

I sold Alside windows for a number of years in Nashville TN.

Your problem is communication in that the company that sold and installed the job is no longer thereto support the warranty effort from the manufacturer. You can call the customer service dept directly at Alside. They must have your request on file.

if you purchased a double hung window (tilts in for cleaning)It will have a glued product number toward the top rail. write all the numbers you see. and call them. They will ups the replacement sash to your home or a distribution center near you, call toll-free at 1-80*-***-****. You need to do more research because your retailer is gone.

"They even assigned a claim number, but if you try to go to Windowwarranty@***.com, this web site doesn't exist"

That's because that's not a wesbite, its an email address.

Most of my Alside windows have had to be replaced due to the same problem. They will have black spots in between the glass .

I think there was a leak in something. They told me, I don't remember. Never had a problem until last year when their policy had changed. I never got any response from them after sending all the info and photos they wanted.

Finally I reported them to the BBB and then I got my window. Just now, I noticed another defective window so I am not happy I have to go through all this again.

We too have had unbelievable problems with Alside windows. With the exception of the 4 garage windows, twenty-eight sets of windows (including bow windows) won't close at all.

Needless to say there are big gaps around the windows because the windows don't close properly. We contacted Alside as soon as we discovered this, filled out & sent back a Warranty claim in September, 2011 (it took them that long to respond) & haven't heard anything since.

I'm looking to hear from other consumers who have had issues with their Alside windows to try & see if together, we could get together to try and solve our problems. My email address is brenda@***m-usa.com

On the comments listed above 1.) 2.) 3.) & 4.

1.) The manufacturer is only responsible for the part under the warranty. The selling dealer is on the hook for the labor. If they are no longer in business it is on you to find a reputable dealer with experience in replacing glass packs. $150 for three hours and travel is fair. He will, from the inside, remove the stays and take out the defective glass pack and insert the new glass pack. you have a seal failure. Buck up stuff happens.

2.) Perfect Steve

3.) Your problem is unclear. If you have mold on the inside (inside meaning you can touch the mold and wipe it away) on a vinyl

window then just wipe it off. If you mean, fog between the glass or a blueish flaking inside the glass pack then you have seal failure or glass coating issue. The seal is under warranty with Alside in most cases, so is the coating. Take Steve's advice! Locate the serial number and write it down check all the windows that have the problem (they all have different numbers. Then call the service number but look for the nearest Alside distributor location and go there with pictures and the numbers. Ask them to verify the warranty and remake the sash or provide the glass pack. it should take no longer than 1 month. ( the same for broken windows as many are ordered with a breakage warranty. If you get a glass pack you will need to disassemble the sash. It is not hard but you may need a servicer.

4.) 99.99999 % of complaints as DanaMac relates have nothing to do with the window.

They are all due to the installation.

The least expensive Alside window cannot do what DanaMac suggest. The builder could not have installed them properly. If she got the builder to even look at them I would be surprised. The fix - Call the Alside distribution center ask for a recommendation for a installation specialist. They usually know who is good. Formulate a plan to hire this contractor to refit 3 windows. (your worst) offer or expect to pay $65 per window plus $50 in travel. You need at least 3 to get him interested. He should be able to take the window out, inspect the wood frame and see the water damage on the leak through. He should clear and clean the opening, caulk, insert the window, secure all from the outside, then insulate and finally metal wrap & caulk. Your problem is not the quality of the window but the lack of professionalism at installation.

Regards to all ,

Dennis

Had an Alside patio door installed in 1996 with lifetime warranty. Started getting moisture between panes and called Alside, they sent a form to fill out and wanted pictures.

We filled out form sent pictures, no response. Called them, they would get back to me. This has been going on for 2 years!!! The last they told me was that I needed someone to come out and inspect the window and I would be responsible to pay someone to do this.

Called the company they suggested and they wanted $125 to come out. Told them to forget it. I next sent a complaint to MN Atty Gen. Now the latest from Alstate is that their warranty only covers 50% and I have to pay the other half.

Never in all my conversations with them have they ever told me that. They have always said that they would replace the door but that I was responsible for any additional materials needed and for the labor. Never any word about only covering 50%. They just seem to be very good at the run around.

I even asked for them just to send me a check for the amount so I can buy my own door and not have to have one of theirs so I don't have to ever deal with them again. They told me that wasn't possible. My husband wants to just buy a door and be done with it, but to me it's the principal of it all. I feel that's what they are trying to do, make someone frustrated enough that they give up.

Noone wants to be accountable anymore in this society. I can remember when " the customer was always right".

Steve, I need to locate the SN on a sliding door. When you say the top of the sash, do I have to take the door out or can I just gently pry up the frame and it is on the side of the top sash.

Over 90% of the windows in our house need to be replaced due to what looks like mold/mildew. I need to call the company but am wondering if you have any feedback to bypass a lot of the running around it sounds like they are going to have me do?? Do they just replace the windows or do they pay to have new ones re-installed??

We built our house in 2005 and the bulider chose the Alside windoes, and they truly are junk! Last summer they rplaced under warranty ALL of the bottom sashes as they severly leaked water (ruined all of our wood window sills!) when it rained.

We were told it was a "design flaw". Thee Madison, WI dealer didn't ask any questions or want any of the replaced windows - so you know even they know they're selling a garbage product.

The windows are very leaky tothe point we cant have any beds or chairs by the windows oin the winter as we can feel the wind blowing through - enough to cause our wood blinds to sway! I would defininitely steer clear of this brand!
